The Great Plague of Kansas - by Tonya

We spent last night in Kansas City, Missouri which was the subject of a lot of controversy. Such as the following:
"Why is Kansas City in Missouri?" - Ali
"I know, it's like how Oklahoma City is in Kansas." - Crystal
Followed by dead silence
"Um, no it's not. It's in Oklahoma." - Everyone
You just gotta work around her. She's like, five.
Frankly, our stop was pretty beautiful. I kind of had a hope but I wasn't going to stake my farm on it or anything.
We passed the time by listening to Lonely Island and singing around the campfire to We Are the World in honor of Ali having tickets to the Michael Jackson concert this weekend and missing it for obvious reasons.

We finally made it to Kansas, the actual state and our GPS somehow took us some undesirable routes which just might be the perfect storm worst thing to happen when you are on an RV.

We had no idea where we were and we had no idea where we were going and we were very successful at both. Luckily, we stumbled upon to amazing jewels in the state of Kansas; the tiny church and the largest ball of twine.
We prayed for Jesus to take the wheel at Tiny Church.

We passed this ball of twine twice before we even saw it. It was a little underwhelming and not really a ball at all which I wish someone would make a fuss about somehow, but nonetheless, worth the drive out of our way. We pondered the meaning behind the ball of twine.

Kris poured in some tequila and Rachel wrote it a letter about how special it is.

Tonight we stopped at Colby, Kansas and had an appetizer of Colby Cheese before dinner.

Our RV park was by a Super Wal-Mart where the Jacob vs. Edward debate continued.

Tracters were driven, daisies were picked and a great time was had by all, despite the pterodactyl size bugs that attacked us all night.

Tonight we will fall asleep watching Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (one of many unnecessary purchases made at Super Wal-Mart) and then we will head to Golden, Colorado.
Miss you all.

  1. These posts are hilarious! Thank you so much for sharing. I have a question.....when you all were gazing upon the large ball of twine, did anyone notice if the cats were looking 'doe-eyed' at the twine from the RV window??? I can just imagine them dying to get to it!
    Be safe you guys!

  3. Love it! Just watch out for Siggy and Smokey (I think that's the name), I'd hate to see a little siggy reproduced 9 months from now.
