An RV Miracle

Today Jesus performed an RV miracle; he got all of the things we are taking to Santa Monica plus my sister's 7 boxes onto the RV! This was a huge stress point for us...would it all fit? Just like when he took those 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish and fed the masses, he somehow kept creating more room for our loads of crap. A few things Jesus decided needed to be sacrificed, like Kris's Rock Band set for XBox (I'm sure coming in a shipment soon) and all of my wine glasses (glass has no place on this RV).
We finally got on the road yesterday and said goodbye to Chicago. After a tearful farewell to Kristen we headed south through Indiana. Nothing we haven't all see before, right? Basically copy and paste this image for the parts of Illinois and Missouri we have seen so far.
Before hitting Kentucky to pick up Rachel and Crystal, Ali thought there would be nothing more appropriate than a little KFC and a drink with the Colonol.

We didn't get to Louisville until after midnight so the loading festivities didn't commence until the next day. After probably the most uncomfortable night of sleep of my life, I met my mom and dad at, where else? Cracker Barrel. I would then learn that it was the 2nd time they had eaten at the establishment in less than 12 hours...naturally. After a clogging exibition (thank you, Gerome) and a reading of today's chicken specials (thank you, Josh) we embraced our dear friends to bid them farewell as they continued on a journey of their own...to Kings Island. I hope you didn't lose a foot.
This difficult goodbye was followed by an equally difficult departure from Ali's lovely mom and the folks responsible for my and Crystal's existence - Tommy and Barbara Ramsey. The back of the truck says "Goin' Places with Smilin' Faces" but these are fake smiles as we were holding back tears.

On to St. Louis for lunch and Kansas City for the night.
The cats are ignoring each other so far so I'm thanking Jesus for another not so small miracle.
Quotes of the day so far:

On the St. Louis Arch
"The St. Louis Arch looks like a ride at Kings Island" - Ali
"So what's the deal with the Arch?" - Ali
"Is it Arc or Arch?" - Tonya
"Tonya, Noah was not involved." - Kris

On potentially seeing celebrities in California:
"If there is one thing I know how to do around celebrities it's be cool - usually too cool." - Crystal
"Give me a celebrity and I'll give you cool." - Ali

On our appearance:
"I look straight up like a haint (note: country version of the word haunt) but heads up, this is the best it's gonna get." - Crystal
"That's the same shirt I went to jail in." - Rachel

Thanks to all for reading. So sorry for the slow post today. Internet service through some of our travels were spotty. I'm told wi-fi is more abundant in coming states.
Currently group singing We Are the World around a campfire.
